Much influenced by black music, indie folk, neo-psychedelia, and jazz, Fengyi’s creations and the bands he’s been a part of transcend genre limitations. Between 2009 and 2019, he founded “The Ginkgo” and “TheJUNK” in Hong Kong and Taipei, respectively. He also collaborated with Cheng Kuang-hsien, vocalist of “Inhuman,” in an acoustic guitar duo, and briefly joined “Heavy Egg Hell Dog” and Hom Shenhao’s large ensemble “Hom Shenhao & HBOrchestra,” actively performing in numerous music venues across both cities.

In 2019, he launched his solo project “Fengyi 逢一,” and in 2022, he formed “Wantamnam 我地希望.” Their first EP, Mukma, was released in March 2024, characterized by a dynamic interplay between calm and manic arrangements, seamlessly blending poetic lyrics with score-like instrumentation. The Mukma tour, which took place across Hong Kong, Taipei, Taichung, and Tainan, saw near sell-out performances, praised for their immersive and emotionally charged live atmosphere. In September 2024, the band released their second EP, Want Am Nam, and completed four headlining concerts in Hong Kong, two appearances at Taiwanese music festivals, and a Taipei show.
